I truly love Nyx, and I think, the problem of this Story is not Mary Sue, but OoC.

Something that I've thought about is that it's hard to be OoC when so many people have conflicting views of what's IC~ see if we were to be 100% faithful to the show's characters, we wouldn't be able to have any fanfiction that's darker or more on the shipping side. I feel the purpose of fanfiction is to change the characters, give them an undertone in their personalities to fit the story. Seeing as this story was supposed to be about raising a villain to be good, I think the characters were - for the most part (Rarity made my teeth grind a little bit) - well adapted to fit the theme. Have you read the first or second version of Past Sins? I really haven't had a lot of discussions about it yet to be honest~

Actually, it probably is. If you mean the scene when Twilight is making cutie marks appear on Apple Bloom, then yeah, Nyx was one of them.
